Description

We've improved our Model A with an updated cutter with more relief to keep the mandrel cooler and be able to remove more brass faster. We've also updated the adjustment locking mechanism in order to reduce memory and make .0001" adjustments even more repeatable.

The PMA Neck Turning Tool is the best neck turner available today. You know why you need or want to neck turn, but with so many different models on the market, which do you choose? The factors determining your choice of neck turning tools essentially boils down to three key demands; ease and repeatability of adjustment, comfort of use and cut finish. This tool absolutely satisfies these demands.

Our neck turning tool does not use a course or fine drive screw to move the cutter towards or away from the mandrel. We don’t utilize an unnecessary micrometer or dial indicator. Nor do we rotate the mandrel on an eccentric which changes the center of the cut and has inconsistent adjustment. Our Model A neck turning tool simply adjusts by moving the mandrel toward or away from the stationary cutter with VERY minimal backlash. The Model A utilizes a super-fine 80TPI drive screw giving you .0002” adjustment between each mark, the marks have ample space between them allowing you to make adjustments as fine as .0001”.  Tool does not include mandrel.

Review of PMA Model A 20 Degree

Posted by Forrester Lowrie on 4th Feb 2022

Works really well, turned 25 Federal 308 cases to practice. First five trashed (just my learning curve) but the other 20 good. Turned the last 20 to 0.013, +/- .0002 or .0003 I purchased the stainless mandrel and expander, Recommend the carbide.

Great products. Have a set up for 40 cal. Now 7mm. With a small cordless and the cartridge holder neck clean up is a breeze

    awesome

You guys are awesome. Your products are the intersection of simplicity, functionality, quality, and art. I had a cheaper neck turner before I decided to spend the coin on yours. The PMA is not even the most expensive setup by the time you put together all the add ons to bring a competitor "close". Absolutely no regrets and the only money that was wasted was what I spent on the cheap stuff first. Your carbide options are worth every penny too. Your stuff just simply does what it is supposed to do without being overly complicated.

    PMA Turning Tool

The tool just feels good in your hand. It cuts just like a lathe, cleanly and evenly and does not gouge the brass. Great design!

    Nothing Compares

Posted by PMA Phone Order on 7th Jan 2019

I have used several neck turners through the years - nothing compares. Not only is it comfortable to hold but also robustly built whereas there is no stress or give imparted when working the brass. ( unlike others ) The design by which the pilot is moved rather than the cutter is a much more manageable adjustment whereas i can consistantly keep and maintain a cutting variation of less than .0002. The referenced adjusting knob with fine graduation marks is large enough to dial in with precision and most of all repeatability. Using a carbide pilot the measurement never grew even after cutting 200 consecutive pieces of brass. There is even a pilot depth screw to precisely adjust pilot depth. Cutting necks of brass is no longer a hassle or a chore! Best money i have spent in the reloading world in a long time and worth every penny!
