Description

Quite a bit of testing went into the updated PMA Barrel Vise. From the metal finishing on the aluminum to maximize grip and minimize marks left on the barrel to the ability to handle barrels from .750" to 1.500"+ this barrel vise is based on the fantastic original Viper barrel vise, with a few added features we wanted.

Vise is shipped in position to handle barrels 1" - 1.500"+. To use the vise for barrels under 1" remove the top and rotate it 90 degrees.

PMA Recommends applying grease to the stud threads prior to use and torquing barrel vise nuts to 40 ft-lbs.

Would recommend. Very good design. I also use it without bolts in my 20t press as it is a bit quicker. Very stout. Plenty robu

    PMA Gen II Barrel Vise

Posted by Bert Scott on 16th Oct 2021

Used the vise to remove a Remington 700 factory barrel from the 1970's. Used Kroil for a few days. The vise worked well and barrel came off with no problems. I recommend the vise with no reservations.

    Decent

Seems well-made but basic, and it binds badly when moving in the vertical axis. Had higher hopes for it. Cannot recommend at all due to the binding. (PMA note: When using any 4 bolt barrel vise, the nuts need to be tightened similarly to the lug nuts on a car or truck tire. Binding will happen if nuts are not tightened in diagonally opposite order)

    PMA Gen 2 Barrel Vise

Gentlemen: Your vise is exactly what I needed to remove a barrel from a 03A3 action. The Wheeler wooden blocks allowed the barrel to spin. Keep up the good work!

    PMA Gen II Barrel Vise

Works great, I have an old Viper and the coating is chipped pretty bad. I like how this one doesn't have the coating and grips the barrel better without having to crank down on the nuts as much. Great value!

    Great barrel vise for Tikka

Posted by Aaron on 20th Jan 2020

I used this barrel vise to remove a sporter barrel from a Tikka T3. I wrapped barrel with drywall tape and torqued barrel vise to 40 ft lbs. I used the wheeler rem 700 action wrench, tapped handle a couple times and action cam loose. The barrel did not slip. Great barrel vise!

    Worked Savage taper barrel

Posted by Gary BRAY on 6th Dec 2019

Held Savage tapered barrel by tightening small of barrel first. Tight. Then went to thicker side and tightened. Top of vise is now sloped down to muzzle. I used tennis racket tape from Walmart on barrel to not mar. Tape used on racket to keep hand from slipping. Worked.
