Description

We've improved our Model A with an updated cutter with more relief to keep the mandrel cooler and be able to remove more brass faster. We've also updated the adjustment locking mechanism in order to reduce memory and make .0001" adjustments even more repeatable.

The PMA Neck Turning Tool is the best neck turner available today. You know why you need or want to neck turn, but with so many different models on the market, which do you choose? The factors determining your choice of neck turning tools essentially boils down to three key demands; ease and repeatability of adjustment, comfort of use and cut finish. This tool absolutely satisfies these demands.

Our neck turning tool does not use a course or fine drive screw to move the cutter towards or away from the mandrel. We don’t utilize an unnecessary micrometer or dial indicator. Nor do we rotate the mandrel on an eccentric which changes the center of the cut and has inconsistent adjustment. Our Model A neck turning tool simply adjusts by moving the mandrel toward or away from the stationary cutter with VERY minimal backlash. The Model A utilizes a super-fine 80TPI drive screw giving you .0002” adjustment between each mark, the marks have ample space between them allowing you to make adjustments as fine as .0001”.  Tool does not include mandrel.

Best Neck Turning Tool I've used

Posted by Greg McMurrey on 17th Aug 2020

I have a lot of neck turning equipment, I turn for .22cal, 6mm, 6.5mm, 7mm, .30cal and .33cal. This is the easiest and most accurate adjusting tool I have ever used. If I had one critique and its a small one, I would love for there to be something on the back of the tool I can chuck up in my lathe. I like to have my lathe turn the cases for me. I will make something to fit a tool holder for it but other than that, it is perfect.

    Accurate, smooth, easy to adjust

Posted by Don Dory on 2nd Aug 2020

This is the third one I purchased(20, 30, and 40 degree cutters) With their driver reasonable single pass cuts are quite feasible. The micrometer adjustment is accurate and the instructions are clear, concise, and helpful. Moreover, if neck turning with different brass manufacturers the adjustment to just even out the case necks is simple. In my case some brass needs to be at 0.132 and another needs to be at 0.146 to just even the necks.

This tool fixes all the problem I have had with other tools. The idea to move the case and not the blade is phenomenal. I micrometer is superb. The attention to to detail is great, instructions are simple and clear, with all the practical tips needed. Technical and customer support is second to none. I highly recommend this tool.

PMA "Model A" Neck Turning Tool

Posted by Steve on 12th Nov 2019

I recently used the PMA Neck Turning tool to turn some new Winchester Brass/204 Ruger. First I ran the neck expander thru the necks, then lubed the turning mandrel and slowly ran the case neck up thru the cutter to the Mandrel stop. ( all cases were trimmed to length, necks chamfered inside and out before turning the necks.) I really like how easy the PMA Model A neck turner makes the job of turning the necks. I'm going to have to try it on some higher quality brass some time.

    Great Neck Turning Tool

Posted by spider on 6th Sep 2019

Been using to neck turn 7mm that has been reduced from 308 brass. Easy to set up and makes quick and accurate work of truing up the neck. The angled cutter ensures you don't impact the shoulder.
